ANZUA LIST GUIDELINES
This message is to give members advice on how to use this newsgroup. This message
is regularly reviewed and sent to the list regularly to ensure it is seen by
new members of the list and as a reminder to present members. If you have any
suggestions on how to improve this notice then send them to anzua-owner@smartgroups.com,
which at the moment is Jock Mackenzie.
REASON FOR GROUP
anzua@smartgroups.com is a discussion group for Unitarians and those
interested in Unitarianism. ANZUA stands for Australian and New Zealand Association
which is the sponsoring organisation for this list. see www.anzua.org
Its special focus is Antipodean Unitarianism and international liberal religion,
but it is not strictly limited to those topics.
"OFF-TOPIC" TOPICS
Topics to be avoided on anzua@smartgroups.com are:
* Heated and un-friendly theological debates
* Personal attacks
* Venting of intracongreagtional conflicts
* Exclusive language ie. sexist racist etc
* Non-religous jokes (esp Mother-in-law jokes )
If you think someone is flagrantly ignoring these guidelines, then consider
sending a message to the group manager, email: anzua-owner@smartgroups.com
rather than letting rip at them on the list. The list owner can bar or ban anyone
who continues to flout these guidelines.
PREFERRED STYLE
The preferred style of communication on anzua@smartgroups.com
is conversational rather than academic. Substantial postings of an academic
nature should instead be uploaded as text files.
WHAT TO POST
If you wrote it and it is of general interest to people who are interested in
the subject, post it.
WHAT NOT TO POST
If your message doesn't clearly and directly relate to the subject, don't post
it.
Don't post "me, too!" or "I don't know!" ie. messages that
don't add to the discussion. It just annoys the hell out of people.
Don't use the list to post personal messages to a single subscriber.
Don't post personal attacks. Make negative remarks about what people said (if
you must), but not about people themselves. Do not point out grammatical, spelling,
or usage errors.
If something cute, interesting, or funny is making the rounds, don't post it.
We've already seen it.

HOW TO RECEIVE DIGESTS OR INDIVIDUAL MESSAGES
There are two ways to receive the list: regular and daily digest.
The regular format is that you receive each message as it comes in.
This promotes conversation and interaction, but it can be be busy during active
periods.
This is the default, automatic upon subscription.
The daily digest format means that you receive one message per day containing
the entire day's worth of postings to anzua@smartgroups.com.
Benefits: one message per day instead of many, which is helpful during times
where you are busy. It is also good for casual participants (aka lurkers)
Drawbacks: it can be more difficult to enter into the conversations. If you
would like to respond to a message you have read in a digest then you have to
click
here
To receive the daily digest format, Click
here and in the "Message receive method" box select "Digest"

confirm the information can take only a few minutes.)
